Also, Diamondback is a powerful brand name. Unpacking & assembling proved no issue, despite the dearth of any assembly instructions. On the first ride the bicycle worked fine initially. But soon the front derailleur became unworkable. The bicycle shop also was unable to get diamondback hybrid working right, despite several attempts. Finally the issue was identified as a defective cable guide, either the wrong part for this bicycle, or a defective part, or an element poorly installed, or all. Fortunately the bicycle shop was willing to contact Diamondback for help, and Diamondback did send a replacement part at no cost. The replacement is indeed larger and heftier than the ""original"" cable guide, and diamondback hybrid works naturally with the derailleur cables, so diamondback hybrid appears to be the ""right"" part. Still, the hole in the frame to accept the attachment screw was stripped & needed alteration in order to securely attach the new part. I still have doubts about how secure that attachment is, but the bicycle works well now, and I think any future issues in this area can be addressed effectively. I do love this bicycle, and the parents at the bicycle shop like it, .
